Learn the key concepts needed for ks3 mathematics

In our KS3 maths classes, we focus on making maths accessible, fun and relevant to real world problems. We teach our students to understand the mathematics and why they are doing it, rather than just rememering methods. Our aim is that our students truly understand the maths they are doing, we believe this is the best way to learn maths.
Each term builds on the material covered in the last term so content is constantly revisted. We take this approach so none of the material taught is forgotten from one term to the next.
All our courses are run through our web app, when you click sign up it will take you to the app and ask you to make an account, you need to do this in order to sign up to a course.
Lesson times: Wednesdays 11am, Fridays 10am. Both classes need to be attended or watched on a recording to get the most out of this course.
Completing this course will help you/your child:
Who is the course for?
Any children aged 10-14 who have finished their primary level maths and want to take the next step. And students who aren’t quite ready to emabrk on an iGCSE course and would like some key concepts consolidated before taking the next step.
Before signing up to the app please add firstname.lastname@example.org to your safe senders list, otherwise our emails might not come through. We do send a text back up so don’t panic if you don’t get an email. Please ensure you are using a private browser until September 7th as we are still doing regular updates.Card details must be added on the parent account to sign up to courses. We have a full SSL certificate and use stripe for card payments so it is 100% secure. You need to make a parent account for yourself and student accounts for your students, you can use the same phone number for all accounts but it must be a different email address. When you make the student account, make a note of the 6 digit code in the student account settings, put this code in on your parent account settings and your accounts will then be linked. This is the most safe and secure way to add your children. You will then be able to sign up to courses on any of the student accounts linked to the parent account. The app address is access.prioritylearning.co.ukAfter this you don’t need to do anything else, you should get an email/text notification when I put the bitpaper link on a course announcement.
We spend a lot of the first term working on fractions and many different types of problems using fractions. So not only do the students gain an understanding of how to do sums with fractions, but also apply their knowledge of fractions to compound and real world problems.
In the second term we introduce percentages and ratio. These topics go hand in hand and also include fractions so the material taught in term 1 is continuously applied.
In the third term we introduce algebra. We teach the basic rules of algebra and solving equations. Then we revisit fractions, percentages and ratio problems with algebra as part of the problem so all the topics taught in the course are consolidated.
